In the early 1990’s, I was a fan of HyperCard, the program from Apple that allowed users to create “cards,” each with text, images, and buttons (along with other controls) that could be programmed using an easy to understand scripting language. My students and I wrote scripts to simulate genetics experiments, explore probability, and draw fractals; we even used it to create electronic portfolios and to share what we learned about architecture in our community.
Several variations on the program have emerged in the almost 30 years since I first used it, and I have renewed my interest in its current iteration several times as well. Currently, LiveCode is the program most like HyperCard, and I am renewing my interest in the program and its applications for STEM teachers and learners.
