If you are reading this post, it is likely you attended elementary, middle, and high school as a child. You may have some experience in higher education or professional training. In addition, you may have experience as a parent or caregiver who has interacted with schools. One of the most striking realizations for many who begin working in schools is the difference between what they remember and the realities of schools today. Remember, as you begin thinking about working in schools that your experience with school is probably different from others’ and just because your experience was one way does not mean that is the “right” way for teaching, learning, or schooling to occur.
