Students and others who need the spoken words in audio content playing in a Chrome browser tab to be presented as text can enable live captioning in the Google Chrome web browser.
This can be used as a method of seeing captions when using:
- Video or audio in Google Drive that has no caption tracks (caption tracks are encouraged)
- Inspace.chat video conferences
- Zoom meetings in the Chrome web browser
To enable live captioning in Google Chrome:
- Click the ‘Customize and control Google Chrome” menu (the three dots in the top right)
- Click “Settings”
- Open the advanced options
- Click “Accessibilities”
- Use the “Live captions” toggle to enable or disable the live captions
